International Women’s Day – Finally Achieving Equality in Medical Care

Medicine Is guided by vision, either our eyes or by using imaging systems. When we go to the dentist, there is no way in the world we would let her perform a root canal without first taking an x-ray and looking into our mouth during the procedure.

Then Why is it that today in 2020 most PAP smears – those lifesaving tests for cervical cancer – are done, literally, in the dark?

Most OB-GYNs don’t use a colposcope (the gynecological tool for viewing the cervix)because they are expensive and require a high level of proficiency. In short, yesterday’s technology is still used today to treat women, and most women don’t even have access to them in the first line of care.

The result? False-negative levels for PAP smears are still alarmingly high.

Illumigene Was established to bring modern technology to women’s health and give everywoman better care and control over her health.

We Developed a high-resolution and affordable colposcope that is easy to use and can be operated by a nurse or a technician. So if you prefer to be checked by a woman OB-GYN and one isn’t available, a female nurse can do it and send the images to the OB-GYN sitting in the next room or across the country.

The Images can then be sent to another OB-GYN if you want a second opinion, or to any specialist you choose - without having to undergo another invasive and uncomfortable exam.

We are at the beginning of 2020. As a husband and a father, I think it is time that 50 percent of our population finally receive the high-quality care they deserve.
