Dear Friends,
Just back from CES. As you are all surely aware by now, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held every January in Las Vegas, has traditionally served as a jumping off point for Powermat-related news announcements, new product reveal, and an unveiling of our roadmap for the year to come. This year’s CES was no exception as we made our debut for the first time under the Duracell Powermat banner. The response from partners, potential customers, members of the media and visitors to our booth was overwhelmingly positive!
Along with our new partner Duracell, we announced that the entrepreneur and 13 time Grammy award winning cultural icon Shawn “JAY Z” Carter has signed a multi-year global agreement as an investment partner and will also become the new spokesman for Duracell Powermat. This is exciting news for the brand. Jay-Z’s music and story speaks directly to a generation that is poised to lead the wireless power revolution and change the way we interact with wireless energy in our everyday lives. There is no better spokesman to carry our message forward.
In keeping with that theme, we announced that Madison Square Garden, in the heart of New York City, will be among the first venues to be enabled with our wireless charging technology. Of course this is good news for Knicks and Rangers fans, who will now be able to charge their phones while at the Garden, but it’s especially good news for Powermat fans since it signals that our plan to incorporate wireless charging into an “ecosystem” of consumer-friendly venues is well under way. With both General Motors and Madison Square Garden incorporating Powermat technology into their respective venues, other big name partners are sure to follow in the very near future.
We also previewed the new line (the very first from Duracell Powermat) of Duracell Powermat products that will be available in stores this spring. Our new line; sleeker and thinner than ever before provides consumers with unparalleled access to convenient power – with mats and receivers in either black or white and a portable wirelessly charged backup battery that lets consumers take power with them for up to a full charge while on the go.
From an industry standpoint, we helped spearhead the announcement by the IEEE, the world’s largest professional association for advancing technology for humanity, of global industry leaders including Facebook, Procter & Gamble and GM joining forces with the intention to form the Power Matters Alliance (PMA), an organization dedicated to remaking consumers’ daily interaction with power as wireless, environmentally sound, and smart.
Finally, we were again widely featured in the media with terrific coverage from USA Today, CNN, Rolling Stone magazine and Rick Dee’s Weekly Top 40 countdown on radio stations nationwide, to name just a few. In all, we have garnered well-over 100 million media impressions generated from CES with many more pot-CES stories being written every day.
I know you join me in celebrating this very exciting time for our company. With Procter &Gamble’s (Duracell) core expertise in consumer understanding, brand-building and go-to-market capability coming together with Powermat’s technological prowess and ability to create a best-in-class wireless charging experience the future looks bright indeed!
Warm Regards,
Ran
